HABITS

"The chains of habit are too weak to be felt until they are too strong to be broken."

- Samuel Johnson

Habits sneak up on us. Before we realize that our behaviors are being repeated, we cannot let go of them. These habits bring us some semblance of order, of place.

Habits also give us some sense of control. Then, when not checked or questioned, habits take over & they rule us and we no longer have control over them.

Habits are strong, but if we break the cycle of self-centeredness and perfectionism that helped create them, we have a chance to become whole.

I will be aware of the myth of control and take a close look at my habits. Do they rule me, or I them?

I could never understand the meaning of powerlessness until I substituted the word control. I always thought if I could control things, I would be alright. Yet I was hurt anyway. Control is an illusion. I had to learn that I could no longer play God with my life and not allow my addictive behavior to rule my life. Some is good, more is better. I had to find a new way to live and I found it in the rooms of recovery.

Love Always,

Each Day is a New Beginning, so have a great one.
