Except for maybe one gift I am done shopping. More than likely I will buy my little buddy (2 yr old grandson) a present. Odds are that might be the only present I will buy. And when he is about 9 or so that will stop also. In the last 20 years or so I have only bought presents for wife and kids twice. Both times I think they where planning my funeral as they figured the time must be near.

I love Christmas. I love looking at the decorations. I really enjoy the music. Watching little kids is my biggy. Love when they see Santa Clause and their eyes light up when they get stuff. Wife often gets mad at me in July for signing a Christmas carol as I'm walking in a mall or down the street. Heck I think Christmas is 365 days a year.

Only one person has gotten mad at me for not shopping at Christmas time and that was my mother in law. To me Christmas is about the birth of Jesus and a time of gratitude and a time for family and friends. Shopping always seemed to me a gimmic the merchants dreamed up to generate money. People buy stuff others don't want but are stuck with. When my mother in law or others use to ask me what I wanted I would tell them nothing. That I already have to much stuff. That when I want something I go buy it and if I don't have it I doubt they could afford to buy it anyway. But if they insist on getting me something I am easy. A smile and a sincere Merry Christmas goes a long way with me. Or go down to the local mall and take a kids name off the tree and buy them something.

Oh don't think I don't do things for the family. I do. Just not Christmas Day. A week or so back I finished up a little table I made for my little buddy. Cute little table about 1 1/2 ft wide, 3 ft long and about 20 inches high trimmed out in oak. Wife and daughter asked me if it was a Christmas present. They should know I don't do that. I gave it to him a week or so ago when it was done. My wife and kids will openly admit they are spoiled and have no complaints about what I do for them. Just not Christmas Day. Sort of cute. Last Christmas when my little buddy was one daughter told him, " You don't have to suck up to grampa he don't do Christmas. Suck up to gramma that works." Than she looked at me an smiled. haha

Where are the rest of you with shopping for Christmas?

Ron

PS Don't bother to suck up to me this time of year. Best you will do is coal in your stocking. ;D But I do wish you all a wonderful Christmas.
