Think the reason I am writing this is that I am still blowing off a little steam. Just got back from a city meeting that was a joke. Only thing I got accomplished is I got to speak my peace. Did it do any good. I doubt it. The city raised our real estate taxes and it was a city meeting for those that wish to raise there concerns as to how it was justified to do so.
I was irritated with the increase but I can afford it so did my wining and will sooner or later shut up about it and next spring pay my bill. But I am more concerned about the younger people starting out and those on fixed incomes. The city portion of my taxes was raised 86% or $850 a year more. My daughters was raised 106% or about $450. Increase like that is really going to take a told on a lot of people.
In AA we say that we don’t have leaders just trusted servants. To bad that those in government or the financial institutions don’t believe in that. That so many of them are concerned about fattening their own pocket without concern about those that have to pay the price.
I was happy to see at the meeting that I was not the only one that bought up to the city council the lack of management and the responsibility to those they represent. Did it do me any good to say something???????? Maybe not. But along with the others that spoke up I am guessing for a while they will be more on there toes and looking over their shoulders to see who is watching them. If not they sure aren’t trusted servants.
I haven’t lived in this town to long. But butted heads with the city manager of the town I moved from many, many times. I think he use to see me come to meetings. The interesting thing there was that him and I respected each other and where actually friends out of the city meetings.
Are you one to voice your opinion or just go along with what is put out in front of you ?
