Hmmm. I thought I posted this jsut now but it disappeared. LOL

WHy do I attend meetings? When I first started attending alanon and acoa I often wondered..>WHY do I need meetings? I'm not the one who drinks. I was so wrong to think that way. Meetings help me know I am not alone. Meetigns give me support and understanding. They help me find and maintain my serenity. When I first found recovery I attended 7 or 8 a week . (90 in 90 they say...) and after that I cut pback to abotu 4 a week for the first couple of years. Today it's been over 14 years. I attend one f2f every week and 2 or 3 online in between. I find the f2f to be of the utmost importants. The others keep me focused.

I also attened many open AA meetings during that time. I am not an alcoholic, so perhaps somebody with experience can give theri answer. To me it APPEARS they are helpful because those who are at teh meeting have found what works for them. They found a way they can stay sober and change their lives. If you follow the example and keep coming back, you can learn from them. It's like FREE therapy.

I do know when we have a problem, t helps to share it with somebody who understands.

Why do you attend meetings?

LIN
