How do you work this Step in your life?
For me it is meditation, connected to my Higher Power and finding the quiet to be still and listen.
http://www.franciscanfriarstor.com/stfrancis/index.htm The Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; Where there is sadness, joy.
O, Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console; To be understood as to understand; To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; And it is in dying (to the self) that we are born to eternal life.

Step Eleven Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
I don't really "work" the 11th step nowdays it's just a naatural paart of each day to haave prayer time and meditation time. It took me a long time to get my head to be still so I could meditate or lissten to see what my Higher Power had to tell me. Listening and waiting for God to speak to me was very hard for me to "get" because I'd spent the majority of my life "Telling" God what I wanted or wanted Him to do. Such a relief once I accomplished that inner silence!!!
Today when I pray, it's not an attempt to bribe God or to get God to do something I want---It's more often asking Him to grant me the courage, willingness, patience and tolerance that I'll need to have in order to be of use to him or to my fellow humans just for that day.
Maybe I'm not doing it right, but I sure put forth the effort on a daily basis.
Thanks for sharing and for reading my response.

Thank you for sharing my friend. I too find myself saying 'work' yet to really heal, I need to live them. I can now the words, go through the action, but not feel it and apply it my life means nothing.
Meditation has always been a big part of my sobriety. I had such a limiting perception of God that I stunted my own growth. When I opened my mind that God is all things, then I grew and the blessings were endless. I read a new saying today. It put my saying He/She/It into a new Light. It said to give it to Mother/Father/God. The God of my understanding is friend, counsellor, parent, teacher, disciplinarian (I hate using big words not sure if they are spelled right). judge, jury, and mentor.
