This is the section for questions.

My questins is what can each of us do to make this site GROW? Back in its heyday, it was huge. The boards had constant traffic ..new posts every hour from people of all areas of recovery. The chatroom was always occupied and there were meetings several times a day.

What can we each do to make it happen again?

Is there a way Jen can attach what they call "tags" so it will come up high on the list in serach engines like Google?

Can each of us send a mass email to everybody in recovery in our addressbook to invite them to check it out?

Can we each agree to post once or twice EVERY DAY? That would be about 100 posts a day.

I've been trying to do my part, but I am one person. It takes a team effort. Are we up for it? or do we want the "NEW" aeb to go by the wayside like the "old" aeb?

I personally would love to see it grow.

Can the address be announced in your f2f meetings? Could you post flyers in a meeting room with little tear off tabs at the bottom like they do for free puppies or lawn service?

Any other ideas?

LIN

I went in yesterday morning very early and there were 6 in the chatroom. That's awesome! Those of us who are "regulars" to the old AEB might want to drop in at all times of the day and sit a litttle while.

I invited all of them to check out the message baords and to post and I also invited them to th Saturday night meeting.

We'll se if they show up!

I read this a couple of days ago and went to the cahtroom. It was abotu 7 central. There 9 people in there. YAY! That's correct. If more people go to chat and WAIT for another person to show up, we can grow.

One of the things that can help would be for our members to come into the chatroom more. It's busy almost every evening. Sure would love to see more of us in there.

Thanks Mama. Great offer! I will check in when I am still up at that time. I'm an early bird and in a different time zone.

Excellant question Lin. When I first found out AEB was back I sent mass email to everyone on my email lists--the only ones who didn't get it came back as no account <sigh>. I can't drag anyone anywhere at any time, HOWEVER, I DO keep passing out the site addy and ask that they give AEB a try. A LOT of folks found other recovery sites and like them so much they only go to it. I was guilty of going ONLY to AEB1 and RARELY went to any other sites,.One thing that helped A24H grow was "room sitters".....just plain ole members taking time every day to sit in the chatroom waiting for someone to pop in. It's amazing how many games of solitaire or slots a person can play in even just ONE hour let alone several.....and people did pop in and then they told friends they knew and they KEPT comin back.

As for what I can do.....I can play "mamahen" and sit in the room every day in hopes someone will pop in. Soo unless I'm feelin too bad to even crawl out of bed, I'll be in the chatroom from 5p.m. mountain time til 7p.m. mountain time every day (at least for awhile)

Keep comin back.....it works....if you work it.

Ok time for my medicine and back to bed. As my Dad used to say " It's a great life if you don't weaken,"

Thanks for the replies Chrissy and Laurie.

How about my idea of each of us who are registered to make a bigger effort to chat sit and to post on the boards? Tht woudl help us grow.

If I drop by a site and the same posts are there that I saw last time I visited, I'd think of it as a ghost site...like those ghost towns in the old west. If I se new posts to read each time I visit, I will see it as worth coming back.

Many of those that were at AEB and at A24H have moved on. Some of them to other recovery sites, (I see them at others, have let them know), others are no longer at recovery sites, and are now out in the world).

Don't have the answers. Life goes on........................things in a persons life change.

As for the part with google. In order to get top ranks with google it takes money. I checked it out and the meta tags are good on the site so if you punch words like, alcoholism, recovery, AA, Alanon, etc the site should come up. Only other way is to become a sponsored site on the search engines like Yahoo or MSN, etc. OR........word of mouth or emails.

I agree with you Lin, it sure would be nice if we could get more people to the site. It would also be nice if more of our current members would be active. All we can do is our own part and trust that others will do their part. I'd sure like to have the need to make more signatures.

I guess this is why AEB is not growing. We have 65 members. I posted this question 2 days ago. Not one person has bothered to reply.

I post at another sit and there are replies within minutes. Maybe what I say is more interesting there. Who knows?

I guess the 65 registered memebrs dont care if AEb grows or not.such a shame.
